Fact: Nobody knows how to open the entire vault at Fort Knox.<\/strong> Kentucky’s Fort Knox is one of the most secure places in the U.S., due to the fact that it’s home to more than 147.3 million ounces of gold bullion, according to the U.S. Mint. During World War II, it even stored the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. So obviously, there are strict precautions when it comes to access. For instance, there are very few people who are aware of the actual structure of the facility, and there’s not one single person who knows all of the procedures to open the vault entirely.<\/em><\/p>\n

We took hor rod out today!<\/p><\/div>\n

We were going to do some weeding in the from the yard but after a close examination, there were no weeds to be pulled!\u00a0 Mary went inside and did some work while I stayed in the garage and got boxes ready to go into the trash!<\/p>\n

We are both attempting to watch our weight so brunch was protein-rich and calorie poor!\u00a0 The grapefruit comes from or neighbors yard and it was so very juicy!<\/p>\n

We got a text from Zack and Becca had completed her graduation ceremony; we are proud of her!\u00a0 Now she is a fully credentialed teacher of special-needs kids and her salary goes up a fair amount.\u00a0 \u00a0Good job Rebecca!!!!<\/p>\n

Mary and I were talking about how to keep the family together and I was remembering my parents; they were past masters at this!\u00a0 Mary has all the skills, and we will keep on trying to keep the family together!<\/p>\n

My parents are always telling me that their world doesn’t revolve around me. So I guess that means that I wasn’t actually their sun.<\/p>\n

TRUTH BE SPOKED!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mid-afternoon we went to the neighbor’s house t pick loquats! We looked all over the yard and they had only kumquats; BIG difference.\u00a0 So we picked about 16 cups of kumquats and then found a recipe for making kumquat marmalade.<\/p>\n

Did You Know?<\/strong> Marmalade is a fruit preserve made from the juice and peel of citrus fruits boiled with sugar and water. The well-known version is made from bitter orange. It is also made from lemons, limes, grapefruits, mandarins, sweet oranges, bergamots, and other citrus fruits, or a combination.<\/div>\n

We hand processed the fruit and it took us two solid hours to make four cups because the fruit had to be quartered and the pulp and seeds removed. The results need to be chopped into four pieces. That means every fruit et cut twenty times!<\/p>\n

We stopped and let the kumquats macerate in the sugar solution overnight. Maceration is the process of preparing foods through the softening or breaking into pieces using a liquid.<\/p>\n

Kumquat marmalade in process of being made!<\/p><\/div>\n

We were tired of kumquats so we headed to Jan’s house for a visit and brought her some goodies.\u00a0 We sat with her and called Mike Jonas to wish him a happy birthday.<\/p>\n
