Fun Fact:\u00a0Tread Lightly<\/strong> – The tradition of carrying the bride across the threshold is to protect her against evil spirits.\u00a0 Evil spirits seem to be a pretty common theme with weddings.\u00a0 Sourced back to ancient Rome, new houses were suspected to carry the angry spirits of those who inhabited the home prior to the happy new couple moving in.\u00a0 Carrying the bride would prevent her from tripping through the doorway and circumvent bad luck.<\/em><\/p>\n

We were up reasonably early and decided it was time for breakfast.\u00a0 The hotel had a recommendation for a local restaurant called Bill’s, and we went there.\u00a0 We were many people at the restaurant, so we had a 30-minute wait and decided we would walk across the street to the CVS pharmacy and pick up some goodies we needed.\u00a0 Our timing was perfect because our name had been called as soon as we got back to the restaurant.<\/p>\n

The Hayes Mansion is a historic mansion estate in the Edenvale neighborhood of San Jose, California.\u00a0 The mansion currently operates as a hotel resort and is presently known as The Hayes Mansion Hotel.<\/p>\n

Originally the home of the Hayes family, the mansion is regarded as one of the best examples of late 19th-century Mission Revival architecture in the Santa Clara Valley.\u00a0 It is a California Historical Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places.\u00a0 Read more!<\/a><\/p>\n

The front yard?\u00a0 Wow!<\/p><\/div>\n

After breakfast, we decided to take a drive out to the wedding venue to get there quickly later on in the day.\u00a0 It was about a 20-minute drive, and we found it pretty quickly.<\/p>\n

Iron animals were located along the road.<\/p><\/div>\n

We returned to the hotel, and I rested; I wanted to give my sciatica a chance to quit acting up.\u00a0 4 o’clock, we headed back to the venue where they had valet park in the cars, and we took a golf cart to the top of the hill with the wedding and reception we’re going to take place.<\/p>\n

Hannah, my other niece, did the officiating at the wedding.\u00a0 Pat and Hannah await the arrival of the bride and her father.<\/p>\n

Patrick was perhaps a little nervous.<\/p><\/div>\n

The wedding march began and here came out and Lisa, the bride, looked absolutely beautiful.\u00a0 The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.\u00a0 Diane told me that yesterday when they did the practice, the weather was windy and freezing cold.\u00a0 Today it cooled off, and it was hardly any breeze.<\/p>\n

Here comes the bride!<\/p><\/div>\n

Hannah did a beautiful job officiating, and she admitted to us that she had it memorized until she saw both Patrick and Lisa with tears in her eyes; Hannah “lost it.”\u00a0 Hannah decided, what the heck?\u00a0 I will just read it.\u00a0 She did a beautiful job.<\/p>\n

There were pronounced Man and Wife!<\/p><\/div>\n

The reception was in a large room adjacent to the outdoor venue.\u00a0 On the way in, we stopped and looked at the pictures on display!\u00a0 Check out the upper right-hand corner, Sue holding Lisa a few years back.<\/p>\n

We miss all of you!<\/p><\/div>\n

The cake was beautifully simple.<\/p>\n

It was easy to cut!<\/p><\/div>\n

They enter the reception as Mr. and Mrs.<\/p>\n

Come on in, the weather is fine!<\/p><\/div>\n

Anna introduced the newly married couple to everybody and said very nice words.<\/p>\n

I can remember when they were painfully shy!\u00a0 Those days are gone!<\/p><\/div>\n

Time to cut the cake, and they did a beautiful job of it.\u00a0 The cake was easy to cut because of its simplicity\u2026 And I was so happy to see that they didn’t shove cake in each other’s mouth and get it all over everything, classy people!<\/p>\n

Slice and dice!<\/p><\/div>\n

Zoom, there it went the bouquet, and she did a great job as it flew approximately 33 feet from where she was standing and had to double backflips on the way.<\/p>\n

The girls look anxious to get the flowers!\u00a0 Lookout guys!<\/p><\/div>\n

The father-daughter dance was charming; Pat looked very proud as he should be.<\/p>\n

They are dancing the night away!<\/p><\/div>\n

We stayed until the music got so loud that it rattled our glasses.\u00a0 The kids enjoy that kind of music, and we didn’t want to put a wet blanket on it by having a waltz played!\u00a0 We headed for the hotel and checked in on the TV to see how the war was going.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
