With the rise of self-driving vehicles, it’s only a matter of time before we get a country song where a guy’s truck leaves him too.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Sun peeked out from beneath a blanket of off-white clouds as if to say, “Is it alright to come out?”\u00a0 Saturday morning, and all is well; Mary\u00a0had a hair appointment.\u00a0 .\u00a0 I suggested she could save gas if she mailed it into the beauty shop. Anyway, at 10:00 AM, Mary was gone, and it was up to Scout and me to watch the homestead.<\/p>\n

Just before Mary departed, we walked the backyard and visited the garden.\u00a0 The lemon tree is going berserk!\u00a0 We see lemonade in our future. She departed with me, giving her a big hug and a reminder: “Even geniuses can get things wrong. Look at Einstein\u2019s unfortunate choice of a hairdresser.\u201d<\/p>\n

We worked on the daily diary with me asking Scout what we did yesterday. He tried to be quite helpful, but all he came up with was eat, sleep, eat, chase elephants, nap, bark, and nap.<\/p>\n

An inventory of the ol’ wine rack revealed a trip to Two Buck Chuck’s home was desperately needed. We\u2019ve trained Scout to bring us red wine. He now thinks he is a Bordeaux collie.<\/p>\n

We will retrain him to do white wines also!<\/p><\/div>\n

Hello, Trader Joe’s!\u00a0 I walked up and down each lane, searching for “must-haves” other than wine.\u00a0 I sent the picture to Mary, and she approved, especially about the licorice.<\/p>\n

The vitals needed for life!<\/p><\/div>\n

After returning from the hair saloon (a little play on words there), we got into the rocket and headed to Annie’s in Banning.\u00a0 Mary drove out there, and I just sat there, my eyes squeezed closed so as not to get too scared.<\/p>\n

Mary shared one of her many employment histories with me. While employed as a train engineer, she said, “My boss said to me,\u00a0 You\u2019re the worst train driver ever. How many have you derailed this year?\u201d\u00a0 She apparently replied, “I\u2019m not sure; it\u2019s hard to keep track.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the bright side, I am driving with an MD!<\/p><\/div>\n

OK, after determining the fence posts were actually telephone poles, and pried open one eye, swallowed hard, and opened the other one. I had to open my eyes as we decided we should talk to people while we were traveling. We called several people but found out they were answering the phone on Thursday of last week; I suppose it was because we were traveling at Warp 7.6, and we jumped forward three days.<\/p>\n

Me terrified? Yup!!<\/p><\/div>\n

We visit Annie and Virgil for quite a while and then went to the market for them at WALMART. The people at WALMART were great at assisting us in finding things.<\/p>\n

When we got back, Virgil and I shared farm stories while the girls went into the other room; they needed some “private time.”\u00a0 Mary shared their conversation; Annie’s comments and concerns touched me.<\/p>\n

Annie shared some old pictures; the one below is Annie and her mother taken over eighty (80) years ago!<\/p>\n

I asked Annie, “At what time do ducks wake up? ” She responded with, “At the quack of dawn!”\u00a0 Then I asked Mary, “What do you call two ducks and a cow? ”\u00a0 She, of course, without hesitation, responded with, “Quackers and milk!”\u00a0 These girls are smart!<\/p>\n

Time to go home.\u00a0 OK, Precious to Tower, Precious to Tower; OK for takeoff? We got clearance, and I stepped on the gas, accelerating to fifteen miles-per-hour, much to the chagrin of Dr. Mary.<\/p>\n

Leaving the Sun Lakes facility.<\/p><\/div>\n

We drove back home, arriving at 7:00 PM.\u00a0 I drove on the way back, and we ran “low” on gas.\u00a0 I asked Mary if that was her plan; running out of gas in the desert around Banning.<\/p>\n

Arriving home with a full tank of gas, we entered the house, and it was cold.\u00a0 It was so cold\u2026 my shadow froze to the sidewalk.\u00a0 If the thermometer had been an inch longer, we’d all have frozen to death. We turned on the heater and fireplace.<\/p>\n

The fire is on; the chair is in place; time to warm up!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary set my iPhone to wake me in time to go to Disneyland and get my final vaccination.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Mary checks the bat phone before taking her place b the fire.<\/p><\/div>\n

We sat by the fire for a good hour just talking.\u00a0 We called Diane Porter and visited with her suggesting we come up on Memorial Day for a visit at a twenty-foot distance.\u00a0 We will work on that later this month.\u00a0 We had a small bite to eat, a glass of wine, and hit the sack.\u00a0 Today has been very successful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
