Wife: “I look fat. Can you give me a compliment?” Husband: “You have perfect eyesight.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Bob and Donna celebrate their 42nd anniversary in Temecula, and we joined them; they needed adult supervision.\u00a0 I must remember to tell Bob that “A marriage anniversary is the celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance, and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But first, we had our chores to do.\u00a0 Mary got her hair fixed at 10:00 AM; I didn’t even know it was broken. I took Scout to my place because his aunt Robin and Unkle Bob watched him this evening.<\/p>\n

We had brunch at the Original Pancake House, where we fought off a herb of bees. We finally hit the road to Temecula at 3:00 PM, which will be perfect as the hotel check-in is 3:00 PM.<\/p>\n

I checked in to see if the COVID shot was ready but alas, no news.<\/p>\n

Our hotel room was great, a short walk to the car and around the corner from the Bolero Restaurant!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We had reservations at Bailey’s in Old Town at 6:00 PM.\u00a0 The plan was coming together. The restaurant was “outdoors,” and we kept our distance from others.<\/p>\n

The girls liked the menu selections.<\/p><\/div>\n

Bob and I went into kibitzing mode almost immediately, much to the delight of the waitstaff.<\/p>\n

Bob explains something, and we know not what!<\/p><\/div>\n

The girls were embarrassed when I said, “Waiter, there is a dead fly swimming in my soup!\u201d He responded, \u201cDon\u2019t be silly; dead flies can\u2019t swim!\u201d\u00a0 Of course, not to be outdone, Bob said, “Waiter, there\u2019s a fly in my soup!\u201d to which the smart-ass waiter said, “It’s OK, sir, there\u2019s no extra charge!”<\/p>\n

I was hungry, so I ordered the Asparagus Bruschetta.<\/p>\n

The Asparagus Bruschetta was delicious!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary had the chicken schnitzel, which was sauteed breaded chicken breast, with lemon caper, buerre blanc, spinach spaetzle, and braised red cabbage.\u00a0 It apparently was good, and MAry finished it off in two bites.<\/p>\n

Two bites and it was gone!<\/p><\/div>\n

A\u00a0schnitzel\u00a0is a thin slice of\u00a0meat\u00a0fried in fat. The meat is usually thinned by pounding with a\u00a0meat tenderizer. Most commonly, the meats are\u00a0breaded\u00a0before frying. The breaded schnitzel is popular in many countries and is made using\u00a0veal,\u00a0pork,\u00a0chicken,\u00a0mutton,\u00a0beef, or\u00a0turkey. A\u00a0vegetarian\u00a0alternative is to make schnitzel using\u00a0cheese\u00a0or\u00a0textured vegetable protein.<\/dir>I had the spicy shrimp, and it was delicious!<\/p>\n

It was too spicy to share with the others (maybe that’s why I ordered it?)<\/p><\/div>\n
