It’s simple; I just miss her so very much!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I thought Sue was teasing me when she said, “Look, we have a melon tree!”<\/p><\/div>\n

She was quite correct, as usual!\u00a0 We planted cantaloupe in the garden, and the vines grew into the grapefruit tree.\u00a0 We missed the ripe fruit until one day Sue looked up and they there were!!<\/p>\n

We loved to garden together, but as her back got worse, I began to do the heavy lifting.\u00a0 I was out this morning at 7:00 AM, running the rototiller and awaiting her to open the sliding glass door and say, “Paul, time to rest and have a drink!”\u00a0 \u00a0She took terrific care of me! Now I have to pace myself.<\/p>\n

Joe brought me the hay so I could mulch the garden as I planted! Each of those areas is 25′ x 4′ of 100 square feet.\u00a0 The back wall us 40′ by 4′ and used for grapes.<\/p><\/div>\n

I called Colleen on the Bat Phone and gave her a rundown of last night and thanked her again for the gentle “nags” from Alexa about pills and stuff.<\/p>\n

The cabin-fever set in, so I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought a new set of German knives for the kitchen, a man-sized cutting board, and a new paper towel dispenser that hangs under the cabinet.\u00a0 I believe that I will be doing a lot of cooking since it saves a load of money and is a lot healthier than going out.<\/p>\n

There were “dirty clothes” in the dry-cleaners box, so I dropped them off.\u00a0 I lost it again when I had to pick up one of grandma’s favorite blouses that had been there for quite a while.\u00a0 I remember dropping it off for her right after Christmas.<\/p>\n

Sue could whip up anything a the spur of a moment, the picture is me cooking, and you can see the instructions have to be right in front.\u00a0 I am messy, but I am learning.<\/p>\n

What is on for today? Enchiladas! After coming in from the garden at 4:00 PM, I got the HElloFresh card, opened the bag, and began my creation.\u00a0 Not “just” enchiladas but “Salsa Verde Enchiladas with Poblano Pepper, Black Beans & Monterey Jack Cheese.”<\/p>\n

I chops, dices, and slices! Nary a finger was lost today!<\/p><\/div>\n

Enchiladas were a Sue specialty, so I vaguely remember how she did it.\u00a0 I am keeping the receipt cards as I could use items from the store and make the meals.\u00a0 Perhaps I could add chicken or shrimp or even sliced up steak!<\/p>\n

Seven hundred seventy calories per serving, I had 2\/6th of the total, which is 2\/3rd’s of a service, which is 500 calories! Yeah!<\/p><\/div>\n

Two of the six were just fine for me, meaning I have two more meals to go!\u00a0 I could have added rice and beans to the plate, but I was hungry.<\/p>\n

Good groceries!<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s 5:00 PM and time to get ready for the Elks.<\/p>\n

Into the shower and see if I can get all the mud off me!\u00a0 I rototilled and planted about 350 square feet of the garden today, putting in tomatoes, string beans, sunflowers, snap peas, shelling peas, yellow corn, and some peppers!\u00a0 Right after the shower came the Aleve! I wanted to be able to stand straight up.<\/p>\n

Off to GG Elks, the Silver Ghost and I went, where we met up with a part of the gang plus Robin and Bob!\u00a0 Connor was supposed to join us, but he had other things to do.\u00a0 I will see him this week.\u00a0 I felt so bad for two couples, long time friends, who stopped by and asked about Sue.\u00a0 I had to tell them, and they were shocked.\u00a0 We had a lot of great hugs.<\/p>\n

I “Bat Phoned” Colleen at\u00a0 9:00 PM, and we talked for a while before I wandered off into the master bedroom and watched TV. I was in the sack by 10:00 PM and was planning the “clock-attack” for tomorrow morning.\u00a0 All buy seven clocks in the house are tied to the internet, so they auto-adjust.\u00a0 This year I was ready because I have charged batteries for all the devices, including the Next Smoke alarm\/night lights.<\/p>\n

I installed these about two years ago, and they provide a soft nightlight motion activated plus they do smoke and CO2.<\/p><\/div>\n

We enjoyed many great evenings spent at the Elks with amazing friends.<\/p>\n
