{"id":32124,"date":"2018-09-18T23:06:22","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T06:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/?p=32124"},"modified":"2018-09-19T03:53:41","modified_gmt":"2018-09-19T10:53:41","slug":"no-going-home-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/?p=32124","title":{"rendered":"No Going Home&#8230;Yet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>No Kidding:\u00a0Getting out of the hospital is a lot like resigning from a book club; you\u2019re not out of it until the computer says you\u2019re out of it!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a day filled with up&#8217;s and down&#8217;s.\u00a0 We thought for sure after last night that Sue would be going home and then set up for two out-patient procedures, well, we were wrong!\u00a0 Late in the afternoon, after her long awaited shower, Sue&#8217;s cardiologist, Tim O&#8217;Neil, came by as he was asked to clear her for a surgery!\u00a0 Irene was visiting and had just departed for the day.\u00a0 We are so lucky to have Irene as a friend!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While awaiting for Tim to come into the room and give us the hopefully good news, I saw this sign on the TV monitor and I caught it with the iPhone camera&#8230;says it all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32127\" width=\"450\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home.jpg 900w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home-150x115.jpg 150w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home-300x229.jpg 300w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home-768x586.jpg 768w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/home-450x344.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>No kidding&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After looking at the EKG, we did not like what he saw and was concerned requesting a heart ultra-sound plus a heart-CT-scan.\u00a0 He thought it could be as simple as an electrode malfunction or misplacement but Tim is a careful and thoughtful doctor.\u00a0 Alas, the &#8220;scanners&#8221; were gone for the evening unless it was an emergency so he talked Sue into staying one more night.\u00a0 The EKG, ultra-sound, and Sue,,,being smart&#8230;said &#8220;OK, just one more night!!&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Did You Know?\u00a0 Outpatient surgery, also known as ambulatory surgery, day surgery , day case surgery, or same-day surgery, is surgery that does not require an overnight hospital stay.\u00a0 The term \u201coutpatient\u201d arises from the fact that surgery patients may enter and leave the facility on the same day. The advantages of outpatient surgery over inpatient surgery include greater convenience and reduced costs.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Outpatient surgery may occur in an inpatient facility, in a self-contained unit within a hospital (also known as a hospital outpatient department), in a freestanding self-contained unit (also known as an ambulatory surgery center), or in a physician&#8217;s office-based unit.\u00a0 Between the late 20th century and early 21st century, outpatient surgery has grown in popularity in many countries.\u00a0 In the United States, 65% of surgeries at hospitals in 2012 were conducted on an outpatient basis, compared with 54% in 1992.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Studies have shown that outpatient surgery is as safe as or safer than inpatient surgery. For instance, complication rates and post-surgical hospitalization or readmission rates are comparable, and pain and infection rates are lower after outpatient surgery than inpatient surgery.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p>We confirmed, after Tim had left that\u00a0Dr. Simon B. Rayhanabad, vascular surgeon, would be coming by in the morning at 8:00 AM so I will get there at 7:30 or earlier to hear the plan.\u00a0 It is our understanding that we would like to do the surgery on the neck, carotid artery, tomorrow. We shall see!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We get to see some TV as we sit and wait or walk in and out of the hospital&#8230;The Communist News Network, CNN, has reported the Russians and colluding with the Governor of North Carolina and CNN has proof!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"376\" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/russians.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32128\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/russians.jpg 450w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/russians-150x125.jpg 150w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/09\/russians-300x251.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><figcaption>It&#8217;s the truth&#8230; it was on CNN (just like their reporter standing in a ditch to make the water look higher than it was&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Except for the food, the really only bad thing we have to say about the stay is that the doctors do not seem to talk amongst each other very much?\u00a0 Dr. Madini is the attending physician and is supposed to make sure everybody talks and gets an agreed-to course of action so we are going to try to see him in the morning also!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I departed the hospital ay 9:00 AM&#8230;it was a\u00a0 long long day!
