{"id":31374,"date":"2018-08-13T20:43:10","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T03:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/?p=31374"},"modified":"2018-08-15T03:14:33","modified_gmt":"2018-08-15T10:14:33","slug":"monday-a-new-adventure-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/?p=31374","title":{"rendered":"Monday, A New Adventure Begins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It&#8217;s A Fact!\u00a0Nothing tops a plain pizza.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So&#8230;what are we up to day?\u00a0 It&#8217;s was a slow day with walking, gardening, and visiting Irene at Malarkey&#8217;s on the agenda plus the little oddities that affect our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First the walk&#8230;target Bank Of America!\u00a0 Derned taxes are due again so we floated a loan from one account into another&#8230;juggling the books! We didn&#8217;t have too but it gave Paul a good reason for the morning walk!\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While on the way to the bank he got to talk to Lisa C. which is always a great way to start the day&#8230;Lisa is so positive about everything and so bubbly! Lisa is married to Pete, our son-in-law. Not too bad!<br\/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul has been posted pictures of the Myrtles around the hood and here is a great example of the Myrtle trees on Seal Beach Blvd.\u00a0 They stay blooming for several months providing color to the local area. The only true myrtle tree is a large shrub or small tree with the Latin name Myrtus communis. <\/p>\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Did You Know? In the Judeo-Christian Bible, myrtle trees signify life and fertility. We had my great grand-mother living with us also and after she passed, it was converted to a sewing room as it smaller than my room.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">For two years, I moved my bedroom to the &#8220;washroom&#8221; which was a 20&#8217;x10&#8242; room addition attached to the garage.\u00a0 The old ringer washer\/dryer lived out there until Dad got mom a new washer and dryer leaving the wash-room just for me.\u00a0 I loved that old room even in the dead of winter.\u00a0 I set up my ham radio equipment out there and often got up at 3:00 AM and chased DX (ham radio talk for communicating long distances with other hams&#8230;mostly internationally.\u00a0 I even made an intercom in the 7th grade out of a four tube Zenith table radio\u00a0 so I could talk to Mom and Dad in the house.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Then one day, Mom and Dad said &#8220;You can have our room&#8221; and it was magic.\u00a0 The room was probably 20&#8217;x20&#8242; and had it&#8217;s own bathroom!\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 I really did not appreciate what Mom and Dad did for me until years later.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">My new room had a full size office desk in it (for the ham radio) and a double bed, and it had three large windows overlooking the back yard.\u00a0 I could sit at my desk and watch the antenna on the top of the 71&#8242; tower rotate to point in the direction to hear best.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 The antenna was turned by a prop-pitch 24 V motor I rigged up from surplus parts&#8230;it was likely a motor used in WWII or the Korean Ward to change the blade pitch on aircraft<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I had amazing parents that I didn&#8217;t appreciate for many many years!\u00a0 I sure do now!<\/span><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31391\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna.jpg 900w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna-113x150.jpg 113w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/antenna-422x562.jpg 422w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>At the top of the tower, 75 feet up I had a Gonset Tri-Band five<br\/>element yagi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31394\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A.jpg 900w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A-150x113.jpg 150w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2018\/08\/RME_4350A-450x338.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>I had an old RME 4350 receiver and had to leave it on 24&#215;7 because it &#8220;drifted&#8221; so bad when it was warming up!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About 3:00 PM Paul quit the yard work and came in the house\u2026too hot! We watched some NCIS before cleaning up and heading to Malarkey&#8217;s.
