Gardening Work Never Ends! Sunday Is NOT A Day Of Rest Here!

“A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning how to grow in rows.”

We are getting active in the planning for the Avalon Ball… we sent reminders out to everyone and we have ten rooms/tickets/round trip already procured! So, first come first serve…we know the Carlson’s, Zaits and others are coming. We are pretty sure about the Henche’s and awaiting the others. Another wild weekend is on the offing!

First things first… finish off the back yard! That means put the tools away, sweep/vacuum up the remaining straw, coil up the hoses, and move the rototiller to the next work location! All done…looks pretty good!

Finally…Mission accomplished…time to rest!
60 days to shelling peas! Onion soup in about a month!

We worked about two hours in the side & front yard. The side yard just needed feeding and mulch because it has trees… Nectarine, two Figs, Apple and an Avocado.

3-4″ of mulch saves a load of water… The little green plant will end up with 4-5 50 pound pumpkins this summer which the grand-kids and great grandkids will care for Halloween!

We decided to take it easy today so at lunch time it was Taco Surf to the rescue. We had a great meal and enjoyed talking about the garden. Sue is now up to date on all the plantings and will make sure they get watered and fertilized on schedule! I tackled the pork burrito and Sue dud two of their veggie dishes, one of which is not in the frig!

Sue drinks wine right in front of the beer signs!

We both had wine for lunch…the real stuff…it is needed to put out the fire from the hot sauce!

Just down the street from us… Walking distance…OK, an hour walk but that’s OK

After getting home, we re-admired the garden one more time before heading for a nap which is a requirement after a hard mornings work and a big lunch!

Three days work…4-5 hours at a time!

After the nap, we watched S.H.I.E.L.D. and some Gilmore Girls before watching “The Highwaymen” on Netflix. Two steely former Texas Rangers are tasked with tracking and killing infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde in this crime drama based on real events.

Random Memories:  I do remember my mother and father talking about Bonnie and Clyde and they remember seeing them in a small town in Oklahoma in 1933…just before mom and dad came to California.  They, Bonnie & Clyde, were kinda folk heroes in those days as people were really pissed about the depressions and the banks role in the mess.

Paul’s mother remembers seeing them in Oklahoma in 1933 or 1934

We made our tookies and finally crashed… it’s been quite a weekend!
